Textile Testing Instruments

The Random Tumble Pilling Tester is a machine used to access the pilling or fuzzing resistance of fabrics. It mimics the mechanical rubbing and abrasion that fabrics undergo during normal wear and usage. The tester consists of 2 rotating chambers where fabric samples are tumbled together with cotton sliver. This agitation causes the fabric to pill, and the severity of pilling is then evaluated and rated.

Operational Procedure

  1.  Place the test sample onto a polyurethane tube, and then put into a square rolling box with a cork liner.
  2. The roller box rolls to the specified number of times at a constant speed.
  3. Then take out the sample and compare it with the standard photo to evaluate its pilling and snagging level.
