The Random Tumble Pilling Tester is a device used to determine the pilling resistance of fabrics. It simulates the wear and pilling that occurs during regular use by tumbling fabric samples in a rotating chamber with abrasive elements. The test measures the amount of pilling and determines the fabric’s ability to withstand friction and maintain its appearance over time.
Operational Procedure
- Put the textile test sample and standard sliver into the test cylinder (the inner wall is covered with a cork pad).
- A specific impeller inside the cylinder rotates at a constant speed, coupled with the turbulence of the compressed air flow, the blades of the impeller continuously turn the test sample and the standard sliver, making it rub against the cork pad on the inner wall.
- After reaching a certain number of revolutions, observe the degree of fluffing and pilling of the sample
